YACINE DIALLO, on optimism during challenging times

YACINE DIALLO, on optimism during challenging times

As the new year quickly and quietly approaches, we're taking this opportunity to re-share some our our favourite collaborations to date; Meet: Yacine Diallo.

With roots in West Africa and France, Yacine Diallo is a makeup artist, new mother, travel lover, and creative in the fashion and beauty scene for the past 15 years.

Last year, we asked Yacine about storytelling, personal legacy, and those in her family matriarch who have made a lasting impact on her life. Since then, the Parisian born has made the move from NYC back to her home country, and welcomed her son Ulysse into the world in January of this year.

What parts of your journey got you to where you are now?

I've always been raised by passionate people, who march to the beat of their own drums. It's given me an optimism and love for adventure that drives me in everything I do.

Who are the SIDIA’s in your life?

My grandmother who passed away two years ago. She was one of a kind! She was unapologetic, never stayed in her comfort zone, and didn’t necessarily choose the easy way.

She also married a man from another culture when that was not so common. Her passing and the process of grieving her had a big impact on me, and led me to explore a more spiritual side of myself and grow tremendously.

What stories have been passed down to you over time, as part of your familial legacy?

I'm about to have my first child in a few weeks now. I'm so excited to become a mother, and keep the story going. Getting pregnant this year was something my partner and I wanted and planned, but during such challenging times, it has been a rollercoaster, to say the least. I'm ending this year with even more appreciation for people, health and life in general.

You can follow Yacine IRL @yacinediallo, where she shares fresh Parisian views, adorable baby smiles and the perfect red lip.

Yacine wears the After Midnight caftan.
